COVID-19 UPDATE - CHURCH CLOSURES (17th March)
Updated: Mar 29, 2020
Following the latest advice from the Government in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, we regret to inform you of the following changes to our church life which are taking place across the Church of Ireland in Northern Ireland, with immediate effect:
Until further notice, all Sunday and midweek services (gatherings for worship) will be suspended.
This includes our ArkAlive service held in the Parish Centre, and Wednesday morning Holy Communion, beginning Wednesday 18th March.
The church building will be open from 9.30am -5.30pm daily for private prayer
Anyone wishing to use the building is asked to follow the guidance on hand hygiene (sanitiser/wipes will be available for use) and social distancing (keeping at least 6 feet apart from each other)
Until further notice, all parish activities and organisations will cease.
This includes the Prayer Meeting on Tuesday evenings, the Bible Course on Thursday evenings and the Lent Bible Study on Friday mornings.
The Parish Centre is now closed to all groups, including non-church groups and activities.
The Office will remain open as usual. If you need to get in touch, please do so by phone
(028 9181 3193) or email (email@example.com).
If possible, please avoid calling in person.
The Office hours are 10am-12noon, Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri (closed Thursdays)
Even though we will not be gathering together in person for the foreseeable future, we will be doing our best to keep in touch, especially with our more vulnerable church members. We will also be helping with ways for us to continue to worship and pray.
As you will realise, these are difficult decisions but entirely necessary to help with the effort to delay the spread of coronavirus Covid-19. It goes against the very nature of Church to have to be apart from one another so it is vital that we continue to pray together wherever we are, and to build one another up as we do so.
The following prayer is being used throughout the Church of Ireland at this time:
Almighty and All–loving God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we pray to you through Christ the Healer for those who suffer from the Coronavirus COVID–19 in Ireland and across the world.
We pray too for all who reach out to those who mourn the loss of each and every person who has died as a result of contracting the disease.
Give wisdom to policymakers, skill to healthcare professionals and researchers, comfort to everyone in distress and a sense of calm to us all in these days of uncertainty and distress.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord who showed compassion to the outcast, acceptance to the rejected and love to those to whom no love was shown.
